Our room was dirty!

At the end of the day, we checked out of this hotel after 2 nights and switched to somewhere else. The staff are not friendly. The woman in charge of laundry is a terrible woman who doesn't know what it is to smile. We befriended one of the restaurant staff during our stay, and the inside scoop says they do NOT treat the servers well.

We gave them our laundry, and on top of them delaying our return date twice (leaving us to actually handwash the clothes we had on our backs), they STOLE some clothing. At checkout when we demanded reimbursement, they would neither call the police for us to write a report nor let us leave. When we (two petite women) tried to leave after paying our balance less the cost of one particular clothing item they stole, a group of men surrounded us until we gave them cash.

DO NOT STAY HERE. IT IS A BAD PLACE. THEY STEAL AND THEY THREATEN PEOPLE. THEY HAVE HORRIBLE ETHICS!!

We had a signed receipt and had put $210 USA to confirm our stay for 50 days. All we needed was for the front desk to check with the owner what the three days of Chinese New Years would cost (some hotels in this area double their price for this holiday). Two days later when we returned to find out what the Chinese New Year's rate was going to be, we were told that the price for our 50 day stay had almost doubled per day from what we had agreed upon. We kept asking to talk with the owner or manager and she said no they only spoke Chinese. This supervisor/receptionist lied to us over and over again changing her story about our booking until we just said, well, we will not be staying if that is the case; We want our deposit back. The receptionist said, "No, not refundable". I asked her, that with everything written on the booking receipt re our 50 day stay the only thing she is honouring are the words, Non refundable.
After much discussion and coming back the next day we got our money back and since have learned that both the owner and management speak perfect English.

I didn't mind the actual a/c room for $18 dollars and I also put up with the fairly loud music coming from Serendipity beach at night as i've heard worse and for a cheap place so close to the action it has to be expected.
What i did have a major problem with was that as we checked out the very unfriendly man on reception came back from checking the room and mumbled something about flip flops. When i asked what he meant he said for me to go back to the room. He told me there had been 2 pairs of flip flops in the room (which had never been the case) and that i must pay for them. After looking him in the eye and asking him ''are you calling me a thief'' and telling him in not the most pleasant way that he could search my bag and that when it then showed that he was in fact the lying little thief we would take it from there he backed off. He even tried to get cleaners to swear there had always been flip flops in the room. I had no problems with the place until then, but now wish i had read these reviews before i went there as it seems a common problem. I hope they get rid of that man as Khmer people are so friendly in general put it looks like the have employed the artful dodger on reception.

These guys are not friendly, not nice, and will try to get more and more money from you. They aren't honest about prices and fees. There was a broken chair in my room and they made me pay for it even though I didn't break it. They are just out to get every last dollar they can from tourists.

Avoid them. There are several better options all around them for the same prices. I left after a couple days they were so bad and so did other people.

Extremely shocked and disappointed at the state of this place. The room was dinghy and dirty, the beds were uncomfortable and the aircon was noisy (but at least it worked). The hose for the bathroom shower wasn't even long enough to reach its hook, so evidently I was expected to have a shower sitting down holding it.

When I consider how much the owner expects you to pay versus what he provides, the well known Australian phrase "tell him he's dreaming" comes to mind. I really don't know what he is doing all day with his money, when some inexpensive and tasteful updates and repairs would be all that is needed.

Came here because I saw the ad for the $5 "BBQ Night".
Arrived around 8.10 p.m. First I was totally ignored by the staff but after 15 minutes finally a waiter walked to my table to hand me the menu. I wanted to order right away because I came here because of the "BBQ Night" - ad.
To my surprise the waiter told me BBQ-night was already finished. WTF?? So your "night" ends at 8.15 pm?!? Nothing about that in the ad. I got a little bit annoyed, because to me it sounded like it's a big scam to get people in. But I decided to eat here anyways because I was hungry and heard good things about Mick and Craig's Restaurant.
Here comes the fun thing: I could order the stuff from the "BBQ-night" allthough it was supposed to be finished but I had to order it from the regular menu, so instead of $5 I had to pay $7 to $10 for the main and order the sides seperately.
Decided to have the ribs with fries and a garlic bread.
15 minutes after I ordered the waiter came over and told me they didn't have any garlic bread left. So they have "BBQ-night" with no BBQ and no garlic bread at 8.30 pm.

The food itself was horrible and overpriced. $7 for some boney ribs with not much meat on it and the fries were wet and disgusting and tasted like they have been on another plate before. Worst fries I had in Asia.
You can have the same meal for a better value on one of the many beach-restaurants down at the beach.

But what really annoys me is that they have misleading flyers just to get people into their restaurant. A "night" doesn't end at 8 p.m.
After eating at their restaurant I was glad not to have stayed in their guesthouse.

This hotel is already showing it's age, but it's not very old. It's located on a dusty backstreet strewn with rubbish, and the pool area is hemmed in by other buildings. The pool itself is rather murky. There are problems with the water supply - we stayed for one night, and the water ran out in the evening and in the morning, and was only topped up from a water tanker.
We were originally charged $73 for our room, but after complaining, we were given 50% back. $35 is a much more reasonable price to pay at this place - but only if the water is working!
Our room was dirty. The shower was mouldy, there were stains on the walls and on the fabric headboard of the bed, while the mattress is simply resting on a concrete block. The desk had dust and a large coffee stain trapped under the surface glass.
The staff were very pleasant and helpful, but unable to deal with problems - perhaps because they simply don't have the power to do so? The Cambodian General manager arranged to see us in Reception 10 minutes after we showed her the problems with our room, but when we reached Reception we were told that she had gone to the bank! An "associate" of the owner (who we think was actually the Dutch owner himself) arranged our 50% refund.
Serendipity beach itself is not a pleasant place - the beach is lined with shacks, and is very crowded. We were glad to be just passing through for the night.

Hi, we are season travelers and love Sihanoukville and loved the bungalows before they were taken over by GBT. We had agreed to a set rate for a 3 month stay, but that changed without warning when ever they thought they could charge more for our room. The maids had to be literally brought into the bungalow to get it some what clean. If you were not there, they enjoyed watching tv and going through your things. We were cleaned out of 5 plus chocolate bars, spare tooth brushes-Canadian, deodorant etc. What ever they thought you would not miss right away. We saw them many times opening the door of bungalows and not even going in. Some guests didn't get their room cleaned for 4 days, until they complained. One poor fellow had to pay 25 cents for a roll of toilet paper at the desk as the maids had not been to his room for the 4 days he was there. When the different folks complained to Management, the maids showed them "Oh Yes, see in my book we cleaned". We laughed when we heard this. What they did with the water bottles, toilet paper, soap that would have gone into the rooms is anyones guess. If you choose to stay at GBT we would recommend that you lock everything up and double check it regularly. Not much of a vacation if you have to watch your incidentals that carefully. We were lucky that we had locked up everything of value.

the manager looke like a frog from hotel is son from owner this guy with black eye glases him hate forenger him verry unfriendly warning look out for you money in safty box some pll lose all money there in hotel the master key have the ugly manager!!! when your towel is dirty you must pay it for a new one when u not pay manager call police or police pick u up from bus station after u pay a new towel u can go!!!
